I am running on Windows XP Professional 64-bit SP2.

I have read that there is no jet oledb provider for 64-bit and the work-around is to set the application's target platform to x86.

I will try to figure out if this solution will fix the issue or if there is another solution, etc...

Right, the work-around resolves the issue.

XMLPreprocess > Project > XMLPreprocess Properties > Build > General > Platform target > x86

(For both Debug and Release Configurations)

Have you tried switching to the XML Spreadsheet 2003 format?  I suspect this would also solve this issue because it doesn't use any fancy OLEDB drivers, but just plain old XML parsing to read the settings. Plus it's nicer in source control rather than the binary XLS format.

Thank you,

Using the "XML Spreadsheet 2003" format resolves the issue.
