Is the maximum number of rows in a spreadsheet settings xls for settings\properties 227?

Hi.

Is the maximum number of rows in spreadsheet settings xls for settings\properties hard coded to 227?

I have a SpreadsheetSettings.xls (Excel 2003 format) file with more than 227 rows filled with setting\property names and corresponding values.

Is 227 the maximum number of rows allowed in a spreadsheet settings file?

Can this be made unlimited? For example, if XmlPreprocess.exe comes across an empty cell where it expects a setting name, then it would stop the iteration loop.

Thank you.

Hmmm... I'm thinking this is an issue with the maximum number of characters in a cell in the Excel spreadsheet settings xls file.

It seems the maximum is 256 characters.

Can this be increased?

Thank you.

Have you tried the Spreadsheet XML format instead of the XLS format? Off the top of my head I don't know if any reason why the number of rows should be limited. I like the XML format better and use it exclusively, especially because it is text and plays nicer with source control systems.

Thank you,

Using the "XML Spreadsheet 2003" format resolves the issue.
